With over 350 days of sunshine a year, Palm Springs boasts the title of the “golf capital” of California, with year-round play. VIP Golf Academy’s Palm Springs locations consist of premier desert oasis landscapes with mountainous backdrops, all surrounding fast, well-maintained greens and lush, manicured fairways. VIP’s PGA Golf Instructors in California have no less than two decades of teaching experience, a combined 11 years of touring professionally, having played in various professional tours across the world, and several PGA Section Tournament wins, along with a multitude of teaching awards. We are proud to say that we are the top-rated golf schools in California.
Known as the “Golf Capital of the West,” Palm Springs boasts over 100 courses and more than 300 days of sunshine annually. Amidst this competitive landscape, VIP Golf Academy has been in the business for over 30 years. And even now, our California VIP Golf Academy golf schools are the only ones in the state that encourage students to write Google Reviews. Google Reviews cannot be manipulated, deleted, or otherwise tampered with by the business owner. With 30 years of experience, over 360 reviews, and a 4.9-star rating, we challenge you to find a competing golf school in California that can say the same. (You can’t!)
We have seen the ebbs and flows of the industry for decades in this desert oasis, none more apparent than the COVID era. The game of golf boomed during COVID, and a lot of golf schools popped up across California to capitalize on Palm Springs’ status as a premier winter golf destination. Most of these golf schools are what we call “brokers”. They act as a middleman between golfer and golf course, oftentimes with no relationship with any California courses or pros, and just calling and scheduling with whichever pro they can find on the date requested.
Because Palm Springs regularly hosts major events like the PGA Tour’s The American Express tournament, the standard for the game here is incredibly high. At our California VIP Golf Academy schools, all of the pros you could be paired with work directly for the company. Our PGA and LPGA Professionals are all vetted to ensure that their teaching style aligns with our mission and that our clients will get the best instruction possible every time. At our schools in Palm Springs, California, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all method of teaching.
Whether you are facing dramatic mountain backdrops or navigating signature island greens, we understand that every golfer differs based on their unique combination of skill level, physical ability, on-course confidence, and learning style. Effective teaching begins with recognizing those differences; this is why we only work with the TOP PGA and LPGA Professionals in California, with an average experience of over 20 years teaching. Unless you come to us as a completely new golfer, we work with what you already have. No matter the handicap, we make edits to your current swing; we do not attempt to recreate it. Clinic-style golf schools apply the same teaching methods to groups of students who all have different needs, completely negating the golfer’s existing skill level.
With perfect desert playing conditions nearly year-round, a lot of our competitors in California emphasize daily on-course play. At first glance, this could seem like a benefit. However, two hours of instruction in the morning, then hopping on the course after lunch, runs the risk of the golfer falling right back into old habits. At our California golf schools, we encourage you to trust and rely on your Teaching Professional to do what they get paid to do: teach you! If this means you need to drill on the range for a while, it is encouraged that you trust this is what is necessary to improve your game. You’re paying for individualized instruction with a TOP PGA or LPGA Professional. Utilize that valuable time getting the necessary information and doing the work they recommend! They will know when you are ready to take it to the course.

Established in 1971, the 18-hole championship golf course on Desert Island was designed by the legendary Desmond Muirhead, one of golf’s most famous and iconoclastic architects, who spent his career challenging conventional course design. This historic golf course in the heart of Rancho Mirage was members-only for decades, until this year. Set on 100 manicured acres in a serpentine meander around. The Desert Island course is panoramic from every angle, challenging but not outlandish, with gentle slopes, cooling breezes from the 25-acre lake, plenty of shade from the treelined fairways, and short distances between greens and tees.

Just a short drive from downtown Palm Springs, California and only about five minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport, The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa enjoys a prime 360-acre setting in sunny Rancho Mirage. This fantastic resort boasts luxurious accommodations, two championship golf courses and over 75,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Relax at one of the three pools or just admire the mountains and golf course views from your private patio or dine at the Pinzimini Tuscan inspired restaurant.
